Another day, another 1-0 victory for Austin FC. For those keeping track, Saturday was the third home game this season where the good guys won 1-0. That’s already more 1-0 home victories than we’ve ever had in a season, and we’ve only played five matches at McKalla in 2025. We love our low-scoring kings, don’t we? Anyway, let’s get to some (more) numbers!
What Songs Were Played, and How Many Times?

Random Observations: That seems like a very balanced setlist, all things considered. “Alright Alright Alright” was the only song that got a single performance, and that’s largely because Austin only scored the one goal. “Feliz Feliz” only featured twice, which feels appropriate for an afternoon kickoff — heat doesn’t lend itself to the amount of cardio work that this song usually asks of the fans.
What Songs Were Playing When Austin Scored

Random Observations: Austin FC scored about halfway through “Cuervos,” and La Murga went into “Alright Alright Alright.” Then they started “Cuervos” back up and did two full verses, so the setlist looks like this:

We often wonder if it’s fair to credit “Cuervos” with two separate renditions in instances such as this, but we also can’t think of a more equitable way to do it. We could mark such instances of a song being broken up because of a goal with an asterisk, but it’s long been our position that this is the way of the coward.

Random Observations: Boy howdy, Joseph Paintsil really looked like he wanted to throw a punch at the end of the game, didn’t he? I guess nine straight games without a win can do that to a guy.
Season Totals

Final Thoughts
“Cuervos” has rocketed to the top of the leaderboard off the strength of one lousy goal scored all season. We know we’re starting to sound like a broken record, but this dearth of scoring is becoming alarming. The mantra of the 2025 offense is that “it’s still early,” but… is it, though? More than a fourth of the season has passed. Almost a third of the home games are in the books. And in five games, we’ve had four Austin goals scored at Q2. That’s one goal every 112 minutes. Woof.
