Well Saturday sure was a bummer, wasn’t it? Between the wind chill, the refereeing nonsense, the Desler injury, and the second consecutive 1-0 defeat, no nos sentimos muy felices. Still, the Murga Report pushes on undaunted, even though the early returns have meant that there’s not a lot of reporting to do.
Sure, Austin FC have only played two home games so far in 2025, but over 180 minutes they and their opponents have combined for only two goals. That’s a pretty rare occurrence in the brief history of Q2 Stadium. In fact, there was only one such stretch in all of last season where two or fewer goals were scored in two consecutive home games. Let’s hope that this doesn’t become a trend, because otherwise the Murga Report could be a rather dull affair. But enough doomspeak. Let’s get to the numbers!
What Songs Were Played, and How Many Times?

Random Observations: Beginning with “Feliz Feliz” at kickoff was a bold choice that definitely paid dividends in getting the south end engaged on a cold March evening. More of that, please.
It was a busy night for “Dale ATX,” which was played four times. Saturday was also the first time since its introduction last season that “La Vida Verde Es Un Carnaval” was played more than once. This may have come at the expense of “Verde Submarine,” which was only played once rather than its typical once per half cadence. Also, last week we wondered whether “The Wolff of Sixth Street” was permanently banished from the setlist because of the recent coaching change. However, we can report that it did feature during the pre-match festivities, but ended prior to the start of the match.
What Songs Were Playing When Austin Scored
<File Not Found>
Random Observations: We were all ready to keep singing “Matador” when Brandon Vazquez lined up at the spot to take a penalty in the second half, only for VAR to ruin the moment. However, this comic display of officiating did lead to the first “Ref You Suck” chant of 2025.
What Songs Were Playing When Colorado Scored

Random Observations: We’ve said it before, but we’ll always have a soft spot for the songs that have been around since Day 1, so it’s always a shame to see them get scored on. Leave our old friends alone, Colorado!

Final Thoughts
In last week’s Murga Report we noted that the 37 songs played in the home opener felt a little low, and this week’s 42 songs felt more in line with historical Murga standards. Also, it may just be a coincidence, but this is the second week in a row where the first half ended with “Let’s Go ATX.” Is this our de facto “let’s head to the locker room” song? It’s still too early to tell, but it’ll be something to keep an eye on later in the season.
