Dearest Gertrude,
I hope this letter finds you in good health and high spirits. I write to you today to regale you with the tale of a wondrous event that took place at Q2 stadium yesterday – a seminal moment in Austin FC history.
The day was cloudy and overcast, the sun trying to peak through, and the air was filled with the excitement and anticipation of the match. As the match began, the supporter’s section cheered and shouted as we always do.
It took a mere 24 minutes before the moment happened. Austin FC had won a corner kick, Emiliano Rigoni took it and put in an inswinging cross to the front post where the most wondrous thing happened: Rodney Redes rose high in the air and with his head re-directed the ball into the net! None of their defenders were able to prevent him from making the attempt and their goalkeeper had no opportunity to keep it out of the back of the net. The crowd cheered so lustily it felt as though everyone in the stands had collectively reached a new level euphoria!
It was a moment of triumph for Rodney and for our club, and the memory of that glorious day will stay with me for years to come. I can only hope that you, my dear Gertrude, will be able to witness such a thrilling event someday.
With fondest regards,
Charles
