Gentle reader, as Thomas Paine tells us, these are the times that try men’s souls. A horrible showing last week. I willed my hens to be optimistic, but should’ve known better. Blues was my theme. I clearly need to heed my own words in the future. To make matters worse, the club issued this ….
MLS Cheering Guide – Week 25
Verde family, I gotta tell you, I’m pissed off. Not necessarily at the 6-3 shellacking last weekend in swampy St. Louis. Yes, it sucked, and I did not enjoy it at all, but its MLS and that shit happens on occasion. The reason I’m pissed off is because I missed out on obvious free money…
The Comprehensive Guide to MLS Stadiums and Support
After having had a chance to visit CITYPark for last weekend’s match, I wanted to share a long overdue piece ranking the league’s stadiums and fan support in it. Unlike some of the other pieces here, I tried to write it from a more neutral perspective rather than a super biased Verde faithful. Tier 1:…
Chicken Prediction: St. Louis Blues
Gentle reader, it has been a minute since we last met. I’d like to say that this time has been well spent. I’d be lying if I did, though. We had to contend with crapping out of the Leagues’ Cup. If that didn’t make you blue enough, we then lost a player who meant so…
MLS Cheering Guide – Week 24
You know how bears hibernate for the winter? It feels like Austin FC decided to do that but, in the summer, given the extreme heat. And honestly, I can’t blame the guys. It’s fuckin’ hot. But also, A LOT has happened. Diego is gone. Memo is in. CJ Fodrey looks to have joined the first…
15 Minutes with a Legend
As I entered the hotel lobby in Fort Lauderdale, I knew this wasn’t going to be a normal interview. Typically when I meet with a bona fide soccer star, I opt for one on one conversations to get to know them, preferably outside in the fresh air where they can feel freer. Not only was…
Leagues Cup Intro
Congrats! We have survived the first half plus of the MLS Season in 5th place in the West after this bizarre first two/thirds of the season. If you had told me, we would be in 5th back in February with the string of injuries we have dealt with, I doubt I would have believed you….
Chicken Prediction: Daniel-san
Gentle reader, let me begin by thanking fellow compound-mate, Charles, for filling in for me last Wednesday’s match, which was characterized by a sad lacking of our midfield maestro, Daniel Pereira. As one might surmise, our bhoys in viride did not emerge victorious. It really does come down to, no Dani, no party. Sure, some…
Chicken Prediction – “O Canada” the Banger
Hello everyone, I am back substituting for Louis in tending the chickens as he has devoted the past week fact-checking and dismissively tweeting about Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny, which if you haven’t seen is an adventure story about a grumpy old man who just wants to fall asleep on his recliner watching…
MLS Cheering Guide – Midweek Edition
Hey, would you look at that?! Austin FC are on a bit of a heater having taken 10 points in four games and now find themselves in 5th place. A critical three game road trip comes to an end Wednesday night in Vancouver followed by a weekend home match against Sporting Kansas City before the…
