Saturday night felt like that scene in The Princess Bride where Westley describes what a battle to the pain means.
Like, yeah, we aren’t dead in the water. But mother fucker that one hurt.
There’s no time to wallow in our sorrows though as the Verde & Black play their first home match in a month with Seattle coming to town tonight. The Sounders snagged a road draw on Sunday, one that for the moment keeps Austin in the playoffs, but it’s incumbent upon ATXFC to start picking up full complements of points at home.
Huge game tonight y’all. Shake off Saturday and bring your voices. The players need us more than ever. I need you to be at your most Billy Bob.
Bring me a beer!
MLS has a full slate as well, but its midweek which means just one thing: QUICK HITTERS!!!!
MLS Sickos Game of the Midweek
Portland Timbers vs Real Salt Lake (9:30 p.m. – Apple TV)
Portland isn’t good. At all. RSL got drilled by Houston twice in four days. And now they have to go on the road for a midweek game. This game has all the makings of either MLS After Dark chaos or the most boring 0-0 draw you’ve ever seen.
6:30 p.m. Block (All Games on Apple TV – *denotes free match)
FC Charlotte vs Orlando City
Inter Miami vs Nashville SC*
New England Revolution vs NY Red Bulls*
NYCFC vs Club de Foot Montreal*
Toronto FC vs Philadelphia Union*
Atlanta United vs FC Cincinnati
None of these impact Austin, so watch for the fun. Two games stick out: Miami/Nashville in a Leagues Cup final rematch and Atlanta/Cincy in a game featuring a red-hot Five Stripes against the best team in MLS.
7:30 p.m. Block (All Games on Apple TV – *denotes free match)
St Louis CITY vs FC Dallas
Chicago Fire vs Vancouver Whitecaps
Minnesota United vs Colorado Rapids*
Houston Dynamo vs Columbus Crew*
We need Dallas, Vancouver, Minnesota, and Houston to all drop points in this block. Which means rooting for both CITY and the Crew. I need a shower.
9:30 p.m. Block (All Games on Apple TV – *denotes free match)
San Jose Earthquakes vs L.A. Galaxy
California Clásico baby! Austin is chasing San Jose right now, so here’s to our boy Diego doing us a solid with the Galaxy.
