This week, we would be remiss if we didn’t highlight the release of La Murga de Austin Vol. 1, the band’s first collection of recorded songs and chants. You can find the album on Spotify and Apple Music. The fact that this album exists at all is a triumph for all the members of La Murga who made it possible over the years, and honestly it has no right to sound as good as it does. Wrangling so many instruments and human voices into tracks that are not only coherent but absolutely fucking slap is a marvel of recording engineering and production work, and our hats are off to everyone involved for a job well done. We can already see La Murga de Austin Vol. 1 crushing our Spotify Wrapped stats at the end of the year. Now let’s get to the numbers!
What Songs Were Played, and How Many Times?
Random Notes: This is the first time that “Colors” has been played since the home opener on February 26, snapping a three-match streak of omissions. The longest active non-played streak is “We Shall Not Be Moved,” which has not been heard in the last four matches.
What Songs Were Playing When Austin Scored?
Random Notes: Two of La Murga’s most stalwart songs, “El Equipo de la 512” and “Verdi Negro (Matador),” finally have goal tallies for them this season. Meanwhile, “Ole Ole Ola” continues its monstrous Rookie of the Year campaign (more on that below).

Final Thoughts
This week saw movement at the top of the table, where “Ole Ole Ola” leapfrogged “Bella Ciao” in Net Success Percentage. We here at the La Murga Report can see those two battling it out for the Song of the Year all season. Also, we are pleased to report that a new song was soft-launched in Washington DC last weekend, and we are already looking forward to its McKalla debut in the coming weeks. Can it have as illustrious an inaugural campaign as “Ole Ole Ola?” Only time will tell! But rest assured that the La Murga Report will be there to chart its progress every step of the way.
