Pollo And The Miracle In DC

Posted on April 16, 2022April 18, 2022 by Andrea Provolone

Washington DC

This evening as over 300 eager Austin FC fans streamed into Audi Field, a tragedy struck. Our beloved and fearless leader Pollo was detained by stadium security.

The masses begged and pleaded with the horde of Paul Blarts to release him at once. Pollo gaped at them as if to say “Do you KNOW who I am?”

Stadium security wasn’t having it. They said he qualified as an “inflatable” and wasn’t put on a pre-approved list of items to be brought in.

Inflatable?

ITEM?!

Pollo is FAMILY.

The capos did their best to plead his case, but ultimately Pollo was taken into custody, to be released at the 80th minute, when his battle cry would no longer be a threat. The skies darkened.

⛈ Due to weather in the D.C. area, tonight's match has been delayed 30 minutes. Stay tuned!

As the defeated Austin FC fans took their seats, rain fell and lightning struck all around Audi Field. The anger of mother nature now palpable in Pollo’s absence. The game was delayed while chants of “Free Pollo” rang out. Back home, devastated onlookers were glued to their phones hoping for any update on the status of their leader.

Once the game was underway, the losses continued to mount. Could it be that one small Pollo was the glue holding an entire team together? Our spark was gone. No pep in anyone’s step. Down one. Now two. Lord just get us to the half! A red card for DC closed out the first half, but how would we capitalize when the heart of our team was under lock and key?

Now some will tell you as the second half began that you could hear the echoes of a forlorn chicken from somewhere within the bowels of the stadium. For me, I couldn’t hear anything above the beat of my pounding, aching, angry heart.

Hundreds of sets of eyes were on the clock. Searching for the end to our misery? Yes. But collectively just wanting to see our precious Pollo returned unharmed. 74’, 75’, 76’…

A glint of Verde among the mint. An eruption of screams. Could it be? OUR KING! OUR LEADER! OUR POLLO! Prematurely returned to the sorrowful masses from The Lone Star State. Stadium security must have deemed us down so bad, he posed no threat of morale boost.

Two separate chants for pollo had been completed (and several questions about how well he was treated while he was away) when the impossible happened.

A goal.

Summoned by Pollo’s triumphant return? The possibility crossed everyone’s minds. Fans on the road and at home had barely begun to comprehend the timing when at 85’, another one.

Pollo, you screechin’, squawkin’ son of a bitch. The real deal!

His friends, foe and followers all began to believe in a way they never had before. Not a decibel had died down when the next goal was scored at 89 minutes and 55 seconds.

Shortly thereafter, stoppage time ended and Austin FC had won 3-2.

Tonight cemented that with faith, belief and a little bit of cluck, all things are possible through pollo, who strengthens us.

We can do all things through @pollofcATX, who strengthens us. 😂😂 https://t.co/HKdyecSkBu pic.twitter.com/ipjorv2VGo
